Hello! I hope everybody had good break! Its time to start or regular sketching meet-up’s!

This special event will join Urban Sketcher and other Lao artists participating in Lao Art Season 2018 under the Mekong Art Initiative.
ກິດຈະກຳພິເສດໃນຄັ້ງນີ້ ແມ່ນການຮວມກຸ່ມຂອງ Urban Sketcher ແລະ ສິລະປິນລາວທີ່ຮ່ວມໃນງານລະດູການສິລະປະ 2018 ຈັດໂດຍ Mekong Art Initiative

So, lets get together for a few hours sketching one of the amazing temples of Vientiane, this time the lane access to the famous Simuang temple.

We will meet in the entrance (facing Monument books) at 10am, Saturday 13 of October, and spend 2 hours sketching on location. At 12 will meet at the entrance, share our sketches and take a group photo. If there is interest, we can have a drink or lunch at Kings cafe, just around the corner.

1. We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.
2. Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel.

5. We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
6. We support each other and draw together.
7. We share our drawings online.
8. We show the world, one drawing at a time.

Mekong Art Initiative – MAI (art and culture organization)

MAI was founded in Vientiane, Laos by Misouda
Heuangsoukkhoun (Mimi). As a child art has always been a major presence in Mimi’s life. Throughout the years she has continued to build on her knowledge of art and its ability to influence the decision making of its audience. Currently, in Laos artist have been confined within their comfort zones, with no support in venturing into other styles of art. MAI intends to break the barriers restraining local Lao artist from reaching the domestic and international audience. In addition our initiative is to help expose the whole Lao culture to a new world through the introduction of new art styles.

Vision
Foster appreciation of art and artist in society through high quality exhibitions,
performances and trainings as well as collaborating with international art agencies and organizations and the community to encourage the creation, appreciation and the understanding of the arts.

Mission
As an organization our mission is to create a platform for, and promote the local talent within Laos. We would like to establish the value of art in society, but also in the domestic and international markets. Ultimately, we would like to create an art and culture center for local and international artists.

Belief
Art Is Infinity! It is an expression that continues develops, grow, and influence its audience.
